Onboarding First Time Managers

This project was created for the Facilitating Professional Learning for Adults class led by Prof. Candice Bocala.

Scenario: In response to the exponential growth in a mid-size edtech organization, the c-suite has decided to promote many technical subject matter experts to managerial positions. As they understand the importance of their success as managers will be key for the future of the organization, they have asked the Learning and Development team to create an onboarding for junior staff members to prepare them to lead teams.

Based on the above scenario, Kevin and I decided to create an interactive video that will introduce learners to four key areas: the importance of culture at work; getting to know the individuals in your team; leading engaged gatherings; and facilitating meetings with intentions. The session will be accompanied by a toolkit for the learners to deep dive into specific topics and direct them to protocols and other tools they can use in team meetings. After the onboarding, learners will be invited to join a Slack channel where they can connect with others on a similar journey in the organization. The L&D team will periodically share resources.
